Commissions
I work mostly in acrylics on canvas, watercolour paper, canvas paper and canvas boards but have also been exploring mixed media applications of collage, ink, oil pastel, etc. You can see my wide variety of works as you peruse the samples on this website. I paint most of my pieces from photographs but not exclusively.
I enjoy seeing people’s reactions when they first see their painting. My commissions have been requested by people for themselves or as a gift for a loved one. Some want a particular look. Others want to have a painting that means something special to them – perhaps a beloved pet or a memorable image from a vacation trip or a family cottage.
I truly enjoy creating artwork that has special meaning for my clients. If you have a special project or just part of an idea, please contact me and I would be happy to work with you to plan a project that fits with your goals and your budget. Prices depend on size and complexity of the piece commissioned but we can work together to create something within your budget.

Volunteer Work
I am grateful for the opportunities that I have had and love to give back.
I enjoyed my four years volunteering at my daughters’ schools (Knoxdale Public School and Greenbank Middle School) leading groups of students and volunteers varying in size from five to forty students in creating paintings and murals to beautify the schools.
I have recently started volunteering at my daughters’ high school (Bell High School) leading small groups of students on painting some doors. It gives one great hope for the future seeing such capable young people.
About Jane Pickett
I started painting in 2003 after trying it at a workshop. After a few years of exploring on my own I started taking lessons. After a while the walls of my house were full of paintings so it was time to begin selling so that we wouldn't be tripping over the canvases. Now my pieces are held in private collections across Canada.
The things that inspire me come from all areas of life, some expected, some unexpected. I feel very fortunate that I have the opportunity to explore these in my paintings. I specialize in acrylic works on canvas but also work with a variety of other media. I love exploring new themes and media and am continually extending my repertoire.
While I continue to follow my acrylics painting passion I am also exploring mixed media and see many wonderful possibilities in this area. Stay tuned!
